Police release statement after armed officers called to Stoke-on-Trent park

Police officers were called to a Stoke-on-Trent park after reports a weapon-wielding man had either a machete or a bat.

The armed officers attended Hanford Park in Wilson Road shortly after 5pm yesterday when a tip-off said a man had a weapon.

They combed the Hanford area but couldn’t find either the man or the alleged weapon.

No arrests have been made in connection to the incident.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “The incident was reported as Hanford Park in Wilson Road but no weapon was found at the scene.

“It was not confirmed as a machete and the caller said it could have also been a bat.

“There were no injuries reported and no one was arrested.”
