Police welcome sentences of Stoke-on-Trent brothers who raided home wielding machete

Detectives at Staffordshire Police have welcomed the sentencing of two brothers who raided a home while wielding a machete.

Grant and Ryan Morse burst into a property in Ball Haye Road, Leek, on September 20 to demand cannabis from a ‘known associate’.

Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard they also went to steal bank cards and £250 in cash and held the blade to their victim’s neck.

Thirty-one-year-old Grant, of West Parade, Fenton, pleaded guilty to aggravated burglary and was jailed for nine years.

Ryan, aged 24, of Haregate Road, Leek, pleaded guilty to aggravated burglary with intent and was sentenced to seven years in prison.

Detective Sergeant Andy Durber, of Staffordshire Police, said: “We are glad the Morse brothers have been jailed and the sentences reflect the seriousness of these offences.

“They went into a private property with the clear intention to steal and in possession of dangerous weapons.”
