Port Vale ace signs new contract

Port Vale captain Leon Legge has signed a new one-year contract.

The deal is reward for the 34 year old’s impressive efforts, having been an ever present in Vale’s 37 league games so far.

Legge is in his second season with the Vale after signing on a free from Cambridge United. He says he is delighted to be staying until at least the summer of 2021.

He said: “I am just happy to be staying. I live not too far from here. My family and kids are settled, we enjoy living where we are.”

He was in and out of the team last year but says he has been hugely encouraged by the club’s progress this season as they have been transformed from a team fighting relegation to promotion contenders.

He said: “That’s just through the positivity that Carol and Kevin have put into the club, and the gaffer. The way we are playing is totally different. It is a completely different club from last year and it is a club that most people would enjoy playing for.”
