Port Vale defender secures non-league loan move

Port Vale defender Ryan Campbell-Gordon has joined Kidsgrove Athletic on loan.

The 18 year old started on the bench for Grove today, coming on as a 56th-minute substitute in their 1-0 defeat away to Sutton Coldfield.

The left back has been sent out to get some games under his belt now the Vale have plenty of cover in the full back positions.

Adam Crookes is back to fitness, after suffering a hip injury in October, and was back in the squad for the first time in this weekend’s 2-2 draw at home to Scunthorpe.

Meanwhile, Mitch Clark is available again after completing a three game ban for being sent off in the 3-2 win at Forest Green.

Campbell-Gordon came through the youth system at Vale Park and signed a two-year senior contract last summer.

He was the Vale’s youth-team player of the year last season when he was also a regular in the reserves.

Meanwhile, the Vale were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw at home to Scunthorpe, despite twice taking the lead, through Mark Cullen and Nathan Smith.

George Miller’s 90th-minute header cost the Vale two points, although they still move up a place into the play-off spots, in seventh.
