Port Vale recap and reaction as John Askey leaves and search for successor begins



Good afternoon. Port Vale are looking for their sixth manager in five years after the club announced this afternoon they have parted company with John Askey.

The manager leaves the club after 23 months in charge. We have all the news and reaction following today’s decision.

Vale are now looking for their sixth manager in less than five years as Askey follows Rob Page, Bruno Ribeiro, Michael Brown and Neil Aspin out of the door.

A club statement said: “Port Vale have today parted company with Manager John Askey and Assistant Manager Dave Kevan.

“First Team Coach Danny Pugh takes charge of the First Team until further notice.

“The Port Vale Board of Directors would like to thank John and Dave for their service to the club and wish them all the best for the future.”
