Port Vale v Salford City LIVE – Team news and updates as Vale make four changes

The Port Vale team confirmed

John Askey has made four changes to his side for this afternoon’s game at home to Salford.

Dave Fitzpatrick, Tom Conlon, Luke Joyce and Nathan Smith are all recalled while Adam Crookes, Scott Burgess, Tom Pope and Theo Robinson drop out.

That means Askey is likely to switch back to his usual 4-3-3 after going 4-4-2 in last week’s 1-0 defeat at home to Carlisle.

Nathan Smith had to miss the last three games because he was isolating after a family member tested positive for Covid.

He partners Leon Legge in central defence, with Mitch Clark on the right and Fitzpatrick on the left.

Joyce returns to the midfield holding role with Danny Whitehead and Conlon given more attacking positions in the midfield three.

Devante Rodney is expected to start as the central striker with Dave Worrall on the right, and Cristian Montano on the left, of the front three.

Port Vale: Brown, Clark, Legge, Smith, Fitzpatrick, Joyce, Whitehead, Conlon, Worrall, Rodney, Montano.
