Port Vale boss John Askey has stuck with the same starting XI that lost 1-0 to King’s Lynn Town in the FA Cup last weekend.
The manager has included midfielder Manny Oyeleke on the bench after the midfielder stepped up his comeback from injury by playing 45 minutes in the Trophy win at home to Liverpool on Tuesday.
Askey had made eight changes for that Trophy game, which Vale won 4-2 with goals from Mark Cullen, Alex Hurst, Harry McKirdy and Devante Rodney.
But the manager keeps faith with the starting XI that lined up in the FA Cup first round.
Vale: Brown, Clark, Legge, Smith, Crookes, Joyce, Conlon, Burgess, Amoo, Pope, Worrall.
Subs: Visser, Brisley, Montano, Oyeleke, McKirdy, Cullen, Rodney.
Tranmere: Davies, Nelson, Clarke, Monthe, MacDonald, Spearing, Morris, Khan, Blackett-Taylor, Lloyd, Vaughan.
Subs: Jones, Smith, Young, Ray, Banks, Wollery Ferrer.
Vale are set to line up 4-3-3 while we expect Tranmere to start with a midfield diamond. That will see Jay Spearing as the holding midfielder and new signing Danny Lloyd as the attacking midfielder behind strikers Corey Blackett-Taylor and James Vaughan.
Vale have already met here this season, in the Trophy. That was a goalless draw before Vale got the extra point with a penalty shoot-out win.
