Prime Minister Boris Johnson will address the nation with a coronavirus press conference this evening.
With Health Secretary Matt Hancock delivering a speech to the House of Commons at 3pm about the latest tiers and Education Secretary Gavin Williamson speaking about schools, Mr Johnson will then take to the podium at Number 10.
Political commentators expect the latest coronavirus tier review will see even more areas plunged into Tier 4 – almost lockdown-like rules.
And some have even gone so far as to call for a national lockdown following the Christmas bubble period.
It comes after the UK yesterday recorded a record 53,135 new coronavirus cases as well as 414 deaths.
However the latest Oxford University/AstraZenica vaccine has also been approved today with widespread roll-out due to begin next week.
The Prime Minister will lead the Downing Street address from 5pm.
