Product recall from bargain supermarket Lidl amid salmonella fears


A number of supermarkets have announced product recalls due to health fears.

Tesco, Lidl and Marks and Spencer are among those that have made the recalls and are advising shoppers who may have bought any of the items listed below to check their batch number or best-before date to see if it matches up.

If shoppers have bought these products, shops are advising people to simply throw the item away or return them to where they bought them from for a refund.

The cause behind these recalls is either due to allergen information being mislabeled on the packaging or that the food could be infected with something potentially harmful, such as bacteria or debris from the factory.

Tesco – Tesco Finest Fruit & Nut Selection & Tesco Finest Festive Belgian Dark Chocolate Brazil Nuts

Tesco is recalling Tesco Finest Festive Fruit & Nut Selection because some packs have been mistakenly packaged as Tesco Finest Festive Dark Chocolate Brazil Nuts and therefore sulphur dioxide is not mentioned on the label.

Because of this, anyone with a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and/or sulfites could be at risk if they consume this product.

The product in question is in 225g packages and has the best before date of May 2021.

Tesco is also recalling a batch of Tesco Finest Festive Belgian Dark Chocolate Brazil Nuts.

The product has been incorrectly packed with Tesco Finest Festive Fruit & Nut Selection which contains sulphur dioxide that is not mentioned on the label.

Marks & Spencer – Balanced for You Red Thai Chicken Curry

Due to a packaging error, the Red Thai Chicken Curry was mistakenly packed as Aromatic Lamb Curry, which contains milk. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.

The product recall applies to any curry with use-by dates of December 14 2020 and December 15 2020.

Lidl – Red Hen Breaded Chicken Nuggets and Red Hen Southern Fried Chicken Pops

Lidl is recalling Red Hen Breaded Chicken Nuggets and Red Hen Southern Fried Chicken Pops because salmonella contamination has been found in some of the products in the batch.

Symptoms caused by salmonella usually include fever, diarrhea and abdominal cramps.
