Security guards brought in to control queues as second Stoke-on-Trent KFC reopens

Another KFC branch has reopened in Stoke-on-Trent – and motorists are already queuing for their chicken fix.

Security guards have been brought in to control the queuing system which snakes around the car park of the fast-food giant’s Sandyford branch.

It comes as more than 500 branches are set to have reopened by this end of this week after being forced to shut due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Slowly but surely, some eateries across Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire have been re-opening – albeit with new social distancing guidelines firmly in place.

The Sandyford outlet is not listed as being open on the KFC website. But our pictures show the drive-thru was open on Tuesday, May 19.

The Newcastle branch, on Liverpool Road, is listed as being open for deliveries. The Festival Park branch is just open for drive-thru customers.

According to its website, the Hanley and Meir branches remain closed.

A KFC spokesman said: “All of our classics are back with a bang.”
