Security remove coughing defendant from North Staffordshire court – after ‘medics told him to self-isolate’

A defendant who repeatedly coughed was asked to leave a court after he informed security staff he has been told to self isolate.

The man was due to appear at North Staffordshire Justice Centre in Newcastle this morning (March 19).

But when he arrived at the Ryecroft building he coughed several times.

Security staff asked if he was alright and he said medics had told him to self isolate.

He was then asked to leave.

And as he left the building he continued to repeatedly cough.

His case has now been adjourned in his absence until next month.
