Dozens of StokeonTrentLive readers say a North Staffordshire woman reported for breaching coronavirus regulations when she drove to the beach in Wales ‘got what she deserved’.
The woman – who lives in Newcastle – was pulled over in Prestatyn at the weekend due to the ‘manner of her driving’ and, as England and Wales are both in national lockdowns she will be reported for breaching coronavirus regulations.
Her vehicle was also seized and she was reported for driving without a full licence and driving without insurance.
But she got very little sympathy from StokeonTrentLive readers who believe she should have taken ‘more responsibility’.
Jason Clarke said: “She got what she deserved, most people also forget Wales set their lockdown rules themselves, but traveling that far is a big no no…. essential journeys only.
“Traveling from Castle to Wales certainly isn’t an essential journey and this is the biggest problem we face – a minority of the population think they can do whatever they like because they are nothing but selfish idiots.
“And before you covididiots start, answer this – if a member of your immediate family went to hospital seriously ill and needs a ventilator to survive but there’s none available because they are all being used for Covid-19 patients would you still have the same attitude you have now? I think not.”
Denise Robson said: “Why would you want to go to the beach in the freezing cold? There are nice places in Stoke-on-Trent to visit. Some people just think it’s acceptable to do strange things.
“If we were not in a lockdown this woman probably wouldn’t of even thought of going to a beach. Please people just be responsible otherwise we are never going to get rid of this virus.”
Meanwhile Julie Leese said: “No wonder the Goverment are thinking of going even stricter – it’s for stupid people flouting the rules like this,” and Paul Cotterill said: “Stay at home. How difficult is that to understand?”
Barbara Millward said: “My family live in Talacre, Prestatyn, and we haven’t see them since the summer when we came out of lockdown and that was only once.
“We rang on Boxing Day and they said it was manic with people going to beach from every location including London, Kent, Liverpool – you name it.

“Some days when it’s a bit sunny, even though it’s cold, they have to queue to get home it’s crazy.. These selfish people don’t consider those that live there.
“My mum has not been out of her avenue as she is too scared due to the amount of people visiting the area. They should be heavily fined.
“It clearly says in the guidelines to stay local, essential travel only, it’s not essential to drive over hour to get somewhere.”
