That relegation dog fight at the bottom of the Championship isn’t showing many signs of clearing up.
Luton Town and Huddersfield have both pulled off home wins against promotion chasers tonight, beating Brentford and Bristol City respectively.
It keeps the pressure right on Michael O’Neill’sStoke City as they make their trip north to take on Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday night – as well as Wigan Athletic, Middlesbrough, Charlton and perhaps even Hull… and maybe even Reading.
Barnsley are bottom and six points adrift of safety with 12 games remaining.
Luton are now second bottom and four points away ahead of a huge home match against Stoke on Saturday.
Wigan are three points and a chunk of goal difference behind both Middlesbrough and Stoke.
Huddersfield and Charlton are two points better off, Hull are two points above them and Reading are one point above Hull.
Yet QPR, who were looking like they might fall into trouble a fortnight ago, are now up in 12th and 12 points clear of the drop zone.
And the latest bookies’ odds suggest that punters are still considering the unknown punishments potentially facing Birmingham, Sheffield Wednesday and Derby County, who are under investigation by the EFL regarding finances.
