Skip hire firm opens seven days a week after influx of lockdown orders

A skip hire business has been forced to extend its operating hours due to an increase in demand for skips during the coronavirus lockdown.

DP Skip Hire, based in Longton, has seen such a boost in demand for its products that it is now open seven days a week instead of six.

The company is also planning on investing in 24 new skips to help fulfill the increase in orders it has experienced – as more and more people embark on home improvement projects during lockdown.

DP Skip Hire offers skip hire services, commercial waste removal, plant hire, kiln dried logs and coal, haulage, tipping and drain unblocking for customers across Staffordshire and Cheshire. It has also recently added deep-clean disinfectant fogging to its portfolio to support businesses and the local community in the fight against coronavirus.

In December, it launched a new website, developed by Newcastle-based digital marketing agency Netbiz, which has resulted in traffic to the site quintupling in just four months.

The new site includes an online booking form which allows customers to select drop-off and pick-up times and an online payment gateway for cashless transactions.

Jon Price, operations manager at DP Skip Hire Ltd, said the period of high growth coincides with the start of the UK lockdown which has led to a rise in people searching for skips via Google. He also believes that the company’s recent success can be attributed to the launch of the new website.

Jon said: “We’re so pleased to have seen such a big increase in web traffic and customer demand particularly during these very uncertain times.

“Since the launch of the new website, we have received nothing but fantastic feedback from customers on how easy it is to book and pay for their skips online.

“We have been sure to place a high emphasis on conforming to social distancing measures as well to reassure staff and customers that they are safe when skips are being dropped off and collected.”

Susan Erlam, account manager and CFO at Netbiz Group, said: “We have been working with DP Skip Hire Ltd since October 2019 and have formed a great relationship with the business. Enhancing user experience and accessibility were a couple of the main aims for their new website so it is wonderful to see that they are contributing to such a high growth in website traffic and demand.

“We are looking forward to continuing our work with DP Skip Hire Ltd and heightening these results further.”
