Firefighters were called to a major Stoke-on-Trent road after a rubbish bonfire sent nuisance smoke billowing across the highway.
Crews from Longton attended Uttoxeter Road shortly before 9pm last night (May 27) to reports of a bonfire.
On arrival they discovered around three tonnes of rubbish had been set on fire.
They were forced to extinguish the blaze.

A Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We were called to Uttoxeter Road in Longton at 8.54pm.
“It was around three tonnes of rubbish that had been set on fire.
“It took around 15 to 20 minutes for the crew to deal with.
“The smoke was causing a nuisance to road users.”
