Jack Clarke is reportedly edging towards a loan move to Stoke City.
The 20-year-old winger has been kept on the fringes at Tottenham so far this season after loan moves to Queens Park Rangers and Leeds didn’t see much game time.
But Jose Mourinho is now prepared to give the green light for a temporary move back to the Championship.
Michael O’Neill has already brought in Rabbi Matondo on loan from Schalke and Rhys Norrington-Davies on loan from Sheffield United as he tried to mount a promotion push in the second half of the season.
His hand has been forced in terms of systems since Morgan Fox limped off with a hamstring injury against Spurs in the Carabao Cup quarter-final just before Christmas.
Clarke came through the ranks at Leeds and won comparisons with Chris Waddle in terms of his style of play as he made his breakthrough under Marcelo Bielsa, earning a £10m move in 2019.
He was loaned back but barely figured in the first half of last season and spent the second half with QPR.
He has made two substitute appearances in the Europa League this term and came off the bench in the FA Cup last weekend.
