Port Vale’s League Two rivals are releasing five out-of-contract players, including Stafford-born striker Mitch Candlin.
The Saddlers have become the latest League Two club to publish their retained list, revealing that Candlin, Shay Facey, James Hardy, Gary Liddle and Kory Roberts will all be let go at the end of their contracts on June 30.
Candlin, aged 20, was just 16 when he made his first team debut for the club.
He was given a professional contract for the start of the 2017/18 season and spent the first half of the following season on loan at Blackburn Rovers.
Clubs have until June 23 to publish their lists – a date that was extended by a month when the football season was suspended.
But clubs were given some certainty on Tuesday when they formally voted to end their season and settle the campaign on points per game.
That means Swindon, Crewe and Plymouth are automatically promoted while Cheltenham, Exeter, Colchester and Northampton will contest the play offs.
Stevenage are bottom and due to be relegated but second from bottom Macclesfield have been charged by the FA with failing to play their players on time. The Silkmen, who are three points clear of Stevenage, have twice been docked points this season.
Port Vale issued their retained list on May 18. Will Atkinson, Callum Evans, Kieran Kennedy, Ryan Lloyd, Jonny Maddison and Jordan Macfarlane-Archer were released while new deals have been offered to David Amoo, Rhys Browne, Shaun Brisley, Tom Conlon, Mark Cullen, Cristian Montano and Nathan Smith.
