Stoke fans proud

It wasn’t to be for Stoke when they faced Tottenham Hotspur in the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup at the Bet365 Stadium on Wednesday night.

The Potters fell to a 3-1 loss against Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur , with goals from Gareth Bale, Ben Davies, and Harry Kane ensuring that Jose Mourinho’s men made it to the semi-final of the competition.

Jordan Thompson’s 53rd-minute strike did give Michael O’Neill ’s side hope of causing an upset when it drew Stoke level, but it wasn’t to be.

O’Neill made six changes for the game, as Andy Lonergan made his Stoke debut.

And, despite the defeat, fans were overall proud of how a much-changed side performed against one of the ‘big six’ Premier League sides.

January transfers eyed

O’Neill has said that he will look to strengthen his squad when the January transfer window opens in just a matter of days.

“We were far from full strength on the night. If we can get most of those players back for the second half of the season and possibly do a bit of business in the transfer window then we can make a push for a place in the top six at the very least and try to get this club back to where we believe it can be,” he said after the defeat vs Tottenham.
