Steven Fletcher will have a knee injury assessed before Stoke City make the trip to his old club Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
Fletcher has been a big hit at Stoke since swapping Hillsborough for the Potteries as a free agent in the summer, linking up with Tyrese Campbell and Nick Powell in one of the Championship’s most dangerous attacks.
But he was forced off before half-time as Stoke lost 3-2 to leaders Norwich at the bet365 Stadium this evening.
The 33-year-old’s shot was saved by Tim Krul but he kept sliding and careered into an advertising board by the side of the goal. He tried to continue but was only on the pitch for seconds with a heavy limp before he signalled he needed to bow out.
Michael O’Neill said: “Yes, it was a blow to lose Fletch. Hopefully it’s not too bad, it was just a bang on the knee and we will assess that between now and Saturday.”
