Stoke City outcast Liam Lindsay could be set for a loan move to Championship rivals Rotherham United.
The central defender has not featured at all this season after falling behind Danny Batth, James Chester, Harry Souttar, Nathan Collins and Ryan Shawcross in the pecking order.
With that in mind it would be no surprise to see him move on during the transfer window. Sun journalist Alan Nixon says Rotherham would be keen on taking the former Barnsley man, as they fight relegation from the Championship.
Manager Michael O’Neill was asked about departures a week ago and he admitted players outside the first team squad need to go out and get game time.
O’Neill, asked if any exits are imminent, said : “Not that I’m aware of at this minute in time. We have players on the periphery of the squad who need to go out and get their careers going again.
“Ultimately someone has to come and require them or ask for them and as we go through the transfer window in January it will be a day by day process.
“It will be nice to see a little bit of turnover in the squad.”
Lindsay moved to Stoke for £2m in July 2019 and played 23 times last season, but he has not played for Stoke since January 2020.
