Stoke City player ratings v Leicester – Vokes kicking himself, Brown’s hard work without reward

Stoke City were hoping for their first FA Cup win in five years as they hosted Premier League high fliers Leicester. Instead, James Justin’s first-half rocket and a dominant second half sent Leicester into the fourth round draw.

Here are the player ratings from the bet365 Stadium.

Bursik: Good low saves to keep out Barnes in first-half. Left rooted for opener, no chance with second, third and fourth. 6

Shawcross: A welcome return. Smart header to set up Vokes chance. Difficult final stages as Leicester found top gear. 6

Souttar: Good test against Barnes. Catching eye with way he can come out of back line with the ball. 6

Batth: Added such a threat at set pieces, taking a whack on his eye for the trouble. 7

Smith: Let Justin slip inside for opener. Tough afternoon at times against in-form Barnes and Justin overlapped. 5

McClean: Good luck trying to keep up with Castagne and Albrighton. Let Tielemans’ long pass through for second. 5

Mikel: Didn’t waste many passes and wasn’t far away with an early left foot volley as he finds feet again after injury. 6

Allen: Energetic press and got team up pitch in lively first half. Couldn’t stop Justin drifting inside for first goal. Less influential in second half. 6

Clucas: Dead ball delivery was biggest attacking asset for Stoke. Was pushed out to left-back in closing stages. 6

Brown: Worked so hard off the ball, often without reward, and had a couple of useful passes to teammates in decent positions to get in crosses. 6
