Stoke City ‘reject derisory offer from Burnley’ for Nathan Collins

Stoke City are reported to have knocked back an insulting opening bid from Burnley for Nathan Collins.

Burnley are understood to be interested in Stoke’s 19-year-old defender Collins as a potential replacement for James Tarkowski, who is out of contract this summer.

But if a rumoured valuation of £10m was considered low over the weekend, the MIrror claims that an offer has come in for £4.5m.

“It is understood that Stoke would want more than double that before they would consider selling him,” adds David Anderson.

Collins, who has been with Stoke since the age of 14, broke into the first team fold at 17 and has emerged as one of the first names on the teamsheet under Michael O’Neill.

He has become a key figure this season, playing in a back three before finding a regular role at right-back since November.

He has captained Republic of Ireland through the youth ranks and signed a new long-term contract at Stoke in the summer of 2019.
