It took a penalty shoot-out to finally separate Stoke City and Blackpool in the Carabao Cup.
The teams were held at 0-0 after 90 minutes, with Lee Gregory, James McClean and James Chester all spurning good chances.
Adam Davies then saved from Oliver Sarkic and Keshi Anderson as it went straight to a shoot-out – but James McClean and Jordan Thompson had their efforts stopped too to send it into sudden death, when Ollie Turton eventually send one wide. Stoke won 5-4 on penalties.
There had earlier been a debut for Steven Fletcher from the bench while James Chester, back on a permanent deal, started in defence.
