Congratulations to teenage midfielder Adam Porter, who has been named Premier League scholar of the year for 2019/20.
Porter, from Biddulph, has always impressed with ability, potential and attitude while he has come through the ranks at Stoke City, captaining the club he supports at every level up to under-23s.
He wore the armband as the under-18s reached the Premier League Cup final, only losing against an exceptional Manchester City team – but they have otherwise been more than a match for any team in the country.
The 18-year-old was a big part of memorable wins over Chelsea, Sunderland, Norwich, Manchester United, Newcastle and West Ham.
Kevin Russell has had him with the under-23s too and Michael O’Neill has invited him to train with the first team, capped by an appearance on the bench for the final Championship game of the season at Nottingham Forest last month.
Porter also had a spell out on loan at Leek Town in the autumn to build up his senior experience.
