Stoke-on-Trent cafe to reopen after customer tested positive for coronavirus

A popular cafe will be back open tomorrow after shutting for a deep-clean.

Barnicles at Baker & Co Cafe, in Fenton, closed on Wednesday after a person who had previously visited the venue was struck down with coronavirus.

The cafe – which is inside Fenton Town Hall, on Albert Square – will reopen on Monday, September 14.

Its latest Facebook post to customers states: “The person with the positive result did not get coronavirus from the cafe and all staff and other customers are fit and well. The cafe is cleaned rigorously throughout the day.

“We merely closed to deep-clean and promote reassurance for our wonderful customers. Social distancing measures are in place, with mask wearing, separated tables and hand sanitiser at the door.

“We follow a Covid-risk assessment and all Government guidance. We can’t wait to welcome you all back on Monday and to reassure our loyal customers that the cafe is Covid safe.”
