Former chip shop worker Sammy-Jo Price died after suffering a seizure.
The 31-year-old had been drinking at a friend’s house on Morton Street, in Middleport, when she began to have the seizure.
She was found unresponsive the next day and pronounced dead at the property by paramedics on the afternoon of January 28, 2019.
Now an inquest has been opened and adjourned following the tragedy.
The former Brownhills High School pupil had previously worked in Captain Kooks chip shop, in Cobridge, before being forced to give up work when she was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 20.
North Staffordshire assistant coroner Sarah Murphy said: “She had been with friends the night before she died drinking alcohol together.
“During this time she began to have a seizure and was found unresponsive the next day. Paramedics were called and certified death at the scene. An inquest date will be set administratively.”
A cause of death has been given as ‘1A epilepsy with amphetamine and possible cannabinoid use and or alcohol withdrawal’.
