Derby County boss Wayne Rooney has confirmed that on loan striker Lee Gregory is set to miss the majority of the rest of the season due to injury.

The 32-year-old is on loan from the Bet365 Stadium but suffered a hamstring tear in the win over Luton Town on Good Friday.

“Lee Gregory, it’s not great, he will be out for the majority of the season,” Rooney told DerbyshireLive.

Gregory has scored three times in his short time at Derby, including goals in his last two appearances.

Clubs respond to transfer embargo claim

Stoke City’s Championship rivals have responded to claims that 10 clubs have been hit with a transfer embargo ahead of the summer window.

The Potters were said to be among 10 clubs to be hit with the embargo at the end of last month, with the report claiming that some clubs are facing ‘financial armageddon’.

Stoke City’s embargo is set to be lifted soon, but other clubs, including Coventry City and Luton Town have responded with statements.

Stoke feeling player’s absence

Stoke are feeling the absence of Tyrese Campbell since the forward’s injury, according to club legend Denis Smith.

The 21-year-old was in impressive goalscoring form before he suffered a season-ending knee injury back in December.

Stoke fell to a 2-1 defeat against Millwall on Easter Monday, and Smith gave his assessment of the result.

“The first 25 minutes against Millwall on Monday were good and you just couldn’t see them winning. If I’d have been playing in goal we’d have only lost 2-1. It’s frustrating because against Derby we were comfortable, at Bristol City we were comfortable and I thought we were better than Millwall… but you’ve got to win,” he said.

“I think generally Michael O’Neill is doing a good job but we miss Tyrese Campbell massively because we are not creating as much as we’d like.
