‘Stupid question’ – Stoke City fans react to interest in Tyrese Campbell

It’s pretty clear what the answer of Stoke City fans would be if they were fielding the call from Bournemouth about Tyrese Campbell.

The Daily Express reckons the Cherries want the Stoke striker to fill the hole in their forward line left by the £20m sale of Callum Wilson to Newcastle United.

The report says Stoke would ask about £10m for Campbell but that wouldn’t put off Bournemouth who are looking to get back into the Premier League at the first attempt following relegation in the summer.

We asked Stoke fans their reaction to the story – and the overwhelming feeling is that Stoke shouldn’t sell if an offer does come in.

City should be in a strong position because the striker signed a four-and-a-half year contract in January.

Supporters on Twitter made clear they want to see the 20-year-old goalscorer in a Stoke shirt this season.

Fans on our dedicated Stoke City Facebook page were also clear in their views on the speculation.

“No,” says Janice Richards. I don’t know why any club would want to assist a competitor. If they need players, there’s a few they could have. Wimmer for a start.”

Richard Slack agrees: “Why would you start selling our best young players?”

Jord Moss asks: “This anything to do with us bringing in Brown from Barnsley? Replacement for Campbell.”
