‘Tearing up your grassroots league?’ – Port Vale announce academy trials

Port Vale’s academy are holding open trials next month.

The club is inviting players at under-12, 13, 14 and 15 level to apply for the trials which will take place during the Easter holidays.

The advert follows the academy’s trial day last season when more than 100 youngsters attended talent identification sessions specifically for left-footed players.

The Vale’s academy has produced two of the current first-team defence – right back James Gibbons, and centre half Nathan Smith.

The latest trials are open to all players, right or left footed, as Vale explain.

The club say: “Are you in a Development Centre/Shadow Squad, recently had a trial with an Academy or tearing up your grassroots league? Then this is for you…

“After last season’s successful left footer talent identification day, where we had over 100 left footers attending the session, we are now hosting trial games for all players in u12/13s and u14/u15s age groups in the Easter holiday.

“On Tuesday 7th April, players will be involved in an 11v11 game with Port Vale Academy coaches taking the games, where players can showcase their ability.

• U12s/13s – 10am – 12pm

(School year 7 and 8)
