The 70 Premier League free agents who could tempt Stoke City, Leeds United, West Brom and other Championship clubs this summer

In the age of Financial Fair Play, you can bet Michael O’Neill will be keeping an eye on which players in the Premier League will be free agents this summer.

There are, according to Transfermarkt who try to meticulously follow these things, there are 70 such players coming to the end of their contracts.

Ok, we’re pretty sure that Stoke City won’t be in the market for Willian, Jan Vertonghen, David Silva and Nemanja Matic.

But there must be a few who must be on the radar. There always are.

We know one for certain to start with: James Chester, who is spending the last few months of his terms at Aston Villa on loan at the bet365.

O’Neill said after he signed him in January: “He was very keen to come here, which was positive, because when we spoke to other players they maybe didn’t have that same enthusiasm.

“Come the summer, it depends on how things progress between now and then to see if it becomes a more permanent deal. Whether it’s what James wants and what the club wants.

“The signs are we’ve got a top professional on our hands and a top player as well.”

But how about a homecoming for Phil Bardsley or Marco van Ginkel or Ben Foster or Cuco Martina?

Do you like the look of any experienced left-back who could be available?
