The fastest and slowest major roads in southeast Cheshire


New figures have been released showing the average speeds on major roads in the south east Cheshire over the course of last year.

Statistics released this week by the Department for Transport show average speeds on A roads in the district managed by Staffordshire County Council.

The A500 was the road in the area with the highest average speed over the course of 2019.

Motorists on the road – which runs past Weston and Shavington towards Nantwich – travelled at an average speed of 47mph.

Across Cheshire East the average speed on A roads in 2019 was 30.1mph – an increase from the 28.5mph recorded in 2018.

A list of the A roads in the south east of the  Cheshire East local authority area is available below.
