Stoke City have a break from league action this week as attention returns to the Carabao Cup.
The Potters are in quarter final action as they welcome fifth-place Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur to the Bet365 Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Jose Mourinho has been handed an injury concern ahead of the game, with midfielder Giovani Lo Celso a doubt after leaving the pitch with what appeared to be a muscle injury in the 2-0 home defeat against Leicester City on Sunday afternoon.
Spurs are also likely to be without Erik Lamela and Japhet Tanganga through injury, although Gareth Bale should be fit enough to feature after playing the second half of the game vs the Foxes.
The result against Leicester means that Spurs are now winless in their last three games, and it has prompted Tottenham fans to call for some changes in future games, starting against Stoke.
One of the players who fans are calling to start is summer signing Joe Rodon, who has made just four Premier League appearances since joining from Swansea City late in the summer transfer window.
“Joe rodon and Ben Davies needs to start next game imo, need to switch things up,” said one Spurs fan, while a second asked: “Rodon to play next game?”
However, the defender will not be named in the squad for Tottenham’s visit to Stoke.
The 23-year-old is cup-tied due to playing the full 90 minutes of Swansea City’s first-round tie vs Newport County back in September before completing his move to Spurs.
Rodon also played all four of Swansea’s opening Championship games at the start of the season but has found breaking into the Tottenham team more difficult.
And he will have to watch from the sidelines as Stoke attempt to cause an upset and make it to the semi-final of the Carabao Cup.
