From supermarket workers to NHS staff, key workers across the country are battling tirelessly to keep us safe and fed – and people want to say thank you.
Following on from last week’s Clap For Our Carers, this evening people are being urged to join in with a national singalong to You’ll Never Walk Alone.
At 8pm on Thursday, April 2 people are invited to open a window or door, or to stand on a balcony, in the garden or on a driveway and to join in.
A spokesman for the organiser, Telford and Wrekin Council, said: “Clap For Our Carers was amazing last week so we thought let’s make it a regular thing and congratulate everyone who is working so hard during this difficult time.
“This week we’d like to mix it up and instead of clapping we are asking you to open your windows and doors, get out in the garden or on your driveways and sing You’ll Never Walk Alone.
“If you don’t want to sing play the song on your phones or other devices or perhaps play a musical instrument. We are of course recognising the amazing people who are working in the NHS but also every single key worker out there.”
StokeonTrentLive reader Aiden Astill said: “I live in a high rise block of flats but will definitely be joining in the best I can. It was amazing last Thursday when people clapped.”
Sing For Our Carers and Key Workers links in with the Sentinel and StokeonTrentLive-backed NHS Heroes campaign, which launched this week, to make sure health service staff know exactly how much they mean to the nation.
