New-style courts are now operating following the UK coronavirus lockdown. These defendants are among the first to appear at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court or North Staffordshire Justice Centre:
PORTHILL: Fifty-six-year-old Sandra Rowley, of Second Avenue, Porthill, has pleaded guilty to a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm dating back to May 17, 2018.
Her case has been adjourned for a pre-sentence report and she is due to be sentenced at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on April 28. Her bail was extended.
TUNSTALL: Twenty-seven-year-old Jake Hammersley, of King William Street, Tunstall, has denied charges of wounding with intent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and two counts of assault by beating.
His trial is due to be held at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court in the week commencing June 22. He has been remanded in custody.
CROSS HEATH: Thirty-eight-year-old Alan Ridley, of Kimberley Road, Cross Heath, has denied two offences of breaching a restraining order. His trial is due to be held at North Staffordshire Justice Centre on May 18. He has been bailed.
MILTON: Twenty-nine-year-old Christopher Pearce has denied a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm on July 24.
The defendant, of Cotswold Crescent, Milton, was remanded in custody. He is due to appear at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on April 27.
STOKE-ON-TRENT: Sixty-four-year-old Michael Shallcross has appeared before a judge at North Staffordshire Justice Centre.
The defendant, of no fixed address, is charged with four offences of indecent assault on a boy under the age of 16 and eight charges of inciting a boy under the age of 14 to commit an act of gross indecency.
He is expected to enter his pleas at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on April 27.
COBRIDGE: Forty-seven-year-old Shane Crisp has pleaded guilty to possessing a class C drug.
North Staffordshire Justice Centre heard the defendant was found in possession of 42 Pregabalin tablets when police arrested him in Cobridge on March 16.
District Judge Kevin Grego sentenced Crisp, who is currently serving time at HMP Birmingham, to 28 days in prison. This will run concurrently to a six-month sentence he is already serving for possessing a knife in public.
The judge also ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the drugs.
NORTH STAFFORDSHIRE: Thirty-eight-year-old Jamie Bruce, of no fixed address, has denied an assault charge on March 13 and a charge of criminal damage two days later.
He has been remanded in custody and will next appear at North Staffordshire Justice Centre via a video link from prison on April 22 when a trial date will be fixed.
STOKE-ON-TRENT: Abel Debessy, aged 25, of no fixed address, who has admitted failing to comply with the notification requirements of the Sex Offenders’ Register, is awaiting sentence at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court. He has been remanded in custody.

LONGTON: Gary Kirkham, aged 38, of Rochester Road, Longton, has admitted failing to comply with a supervision requirement.
North Staffordshire Justice Centre heard the defendant failed to attend appointments with his offender manager on February 20 and March 4.
District Judge Kevin Grego sentenced Kirkham to one day’s detention.
