A cafe based in a popular entertainment venue is now proving a hit with customers just weeks after opening.
Cafe Legends is the latest addition to Jollees Cabaret Venue, in London Road, Stoke.
Bar manager and head chef Craig Longson assures customers that they can expect a warm welcome and fresh, home cooked food – all for a great price.
The cafe, which is open six days a week, offers an all-day breakfast, burgers, oatcakes, Sunday lunches and desserts.
Craig said: “During lockdown, we refurbished the whole room at Jollees. The cafe is inside the venue and we’ve transformed our bar area so now it’s part bar part kitchen.
“Everything is cooked fresh daily. No frozen food, no microwaved food. So far, the reaction has been brilliant and customers are loving it. We had so many people coming in for Sunday lunches last week that we sold out – it’s really taken off.”
Craig promises fresh, ‘affordable’ food from Cafe Legends – and assures customers that there is something for everyone.
He said: “We are an affordable cafe, absolutely cheap as chips. We have slushies for the kids and also offer desserts that are made fresh every single morning. We just want to get out there and let people know we are here.
“Jollees already has a great following and it’s such a community hub, so we’ve had a lot of support from our Jollees family.”
Dave and Bev Clewes are the couple behind Jollees Cabaret Venue. They have an ever-growing collection of character outfits, from Stormtroopers to Paw Patrol characters, which are all being used to entertain and amuse Cafe Legends’ younger guests.
“We put on character-themed nights for children,” added Craig. “We have over 30 character mascots, with characters from Star Wars, all the way to Disney princesses. So far, we have done a Mario and Luigi pizza night and have lots more planned for the future.
“We have a variety of food available, including all-day breakfasts and special nights such as steak nights. There is something for everyone.
“Dave and Bev put so much hard work and time into the venue and the community that they have created. They run a safe, family friendly establishment that everyone can enjoy.”
The team have also implemented a range of measures to keep staff customers safe in light of the coronavirus pandemic.
Craig said: “We are closed on Mondays as we do a full deep clean, but open every other day.
“We have social distancing in place, with tables distanced from each other, and we are operating a one-way system with floor markings.
“We also have hand sanitiser available throughout the venue and all staff have had Covid-19 training.”
During lockdown, the Jollees team delivered food to frontline workers to thank them for their hard work.
Craig said: “I love the cafe and I’m really proud of it and proud of what we do for our community too – Dave and Bev are brilliant.
“During lockdown, the Jollees team delivered pizzas to care homes and the hospital, which was a real community effort.”
Cafe Legends is located inside Jollees Cabaret Venue in London Road. It is open from 8am to 2pm, Tuesday to Saturday, and from 11am to 4pm on Sundays.
