Tom Ince set up two goals and scored the other as Stoke City saw off Leeds United 3-0 in this afternoon’s pre-season friendly at the bet365 Stadium.
Stoke returned to pre-season action, after their penalty shoot-out win over Blackpool in the Carabao Cup first round on Saturday, and emerged convincing victors against Mercelo Bielsa’s side.
Ryan Shawcross was named in the starting line up but replaced by Liam Lindsay seven minutes into the game after picking up a knock.
Stoke took the lead on 24 minutes as Leeds failed to deal with Ince’s corner and Nathan Collins fired home the rebound.
Patrick Bamford fired just wide for the visitors moments after the break but Stoke doubled their lead on 52 minutes when Ince’s cross found substitute Lee Gregory to score.
Liam Lindsay and Tyrese Campbell went close before Ince added the third, scoring on 62 minutes of the 80-minute game.
Adam Davies is away on international duty with Wales so Jack Butland got a chance to impress for City.
Leeds also had players missing because of international duty including new signings Rodrigo and Robin Koch, captain Liam Cooper and Gjanni Alioski, Kalvin Phillips, Stuart Dallas and Mateusz Klich.
We weren’t at the game, which was behind closed doors, but covered by Stoke City and Leeds United.
