Top North Staffordshire council officer quits job after shock resignation



A leading council officer responsible for thousands of North Staffordshire families has left her role.

Mary Walker had served as the assistant chief executive of the Staffordshire Moorlands Disctrict Council and High Peak alliance since February 2019 – having spent three years as the authority’s head of customer service.

She served under Simon Baker looking after the North Staffordshire and Derbyshire authorities.

But today (March 6), SMDC confirmed Ms Walker had left her position at the council.

According to the 2019/20 pay structure the assistant chief executive role receives a basic salary between £62,517 and £77,695.

An SMDC spokesman said: “We can confirm the assistant chief executive has resigned from her position.”

Ms Walker’s job at the district council included looking after customer services, benefits, housing services, repairs and maintenance, policy developmnet, and emergency planning.
