A Staffordshire Moorlands shop is being lit up on Thursday evenings in support of NHS workers.
Mosaic Boutique in Leek, is illuminated in blue following the weekly clap for carers, which takes place at 8pm each evening in support of health staff and other workers on the frontline of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The fashion shop, on the town’s Sheepmarket, is also hosting an online sale live on social media from 8.30pm each Thursday.
Owner Steve Lanza said the response had been ‘absolutely phenomenal’.
He said: “We have seen chats on Facebook and decided we would do a live sale. We did not know it would work.
“There were 250 people watching live this Thursday, up from 180 the week before. Word is spreading and people say they have a good laugh.”
“It’s important to stay positive and that’s how we’re going to get through this. We are quite positive. At the moment there is not a lot for people to look forward to. We are trying to turn a negative into a positive.”
The business offers free local delivery – although Stephen added they have customers all over the world.
Stephen, whose sister works at Royal Stoke, and husband Jason have previously raised money for the hospital.
He added: “We have raised lots of money for the Royal Stoke before. We once had a big party on the street outside and raised £5,000 in one night.
“The other night I put a post on my private Facebook page and raised £130 for the hospital just that day.”
