Two lanes closed on M6 in Staffordshire due to ‘infrastructure issue’

Motorists face delays on the M6 after two lanes were forced to close due to emergency repairwork.

All lanes between junction 13, Stafford south, and junction 12, Gailey, were forced to close shortly before 1.20pm today (December 31).

But one lane has now reopened allowed traffic to pass through the scene.

Maintenance crews are currently on the busy stretch of carriageway.

A Highways England spokesman said: “On the M6 at J13 southbound there are two lanes (of three) closed for an infrastructure issue.

“Traffic officers and maintenance crews are currently at the scene.”

Traffic had previously been held.
