Two quizzed after reports of ‘gunman’ at Stoke-on-Trent caravan site

A man and woman were today being quizzed following a disturbance at Stoke-on-Trent’s main traveller site.

Armed police were called to Linehouses, off Boathorse Road, Goldenhill, after receiving reports of someone with a gun.

Staffordshire Police initially confirmed to StokeonTrentLive that one arrest had been made in the aftermath of the incident.

They have now revealed a second suspect has been detained.

The pair were taken to the Northern Area Custody Facility at Etruria for questioning.

It has not been revealed what offence they are alleged to have committed or whether any weapon has been seized.

A spokesman said last night: “We were called to Linehouses caravan site after receiving a call from a woman alerting us to an ongoing incident.

“Due to the nature of the reports, armed officers were called to carry out inquiries.”

In an update the spokesman added: “A man and woman have been arrested. Investigations are continuing.”

It was the second armed deployment in the city following a stand-off in Grove Road, Fenton, from 8pm until midnight which ended in the arrest of two teenagers.
