UK Coronavirus death toll increases to 36,042 as four more people die at Royal Stoke and County hospitals



The coronavirus death toll has increased in the last 24 hours across the University Hospitals of North Midlands.

Latest data released by Public Health England shows there have been 282 deaths at Royal Stoke University Hospital in Hartshill and Stafford’s County Hospital.

The number has increased by four from the 278 deaths announced yesterday.

Five people have lost their lives at the North Staffordshire Combined Trust – which includes the Harplands Hospital.

Meanwhile, the Midlands Partnership Foundation Trust – which operates Haywood Hospital, Cheadle Community Hospital, Leek Moorlands Hospital, Bradwell Community Hospital and others – the figure has remained at six.

At the Mid Cheshire NHS Foundation Trust – which includes Crewe’s Leighton Hospital – 164 people have now died having been tested positive for coronavirus, an increase of one.

At the East Cheshire NHS Foundation Trust – which looks after Congleton War Memorial Hospital and Macclesfield District General Hospital – the number of deaths has increased by four to 109.

The total number of deaths in the UK now stands at 36,042 – with 338 people dying within the last 24 hours across hospitals and care homes.
