The A500 is blocked following a serious accident this morning.
The southbound carriageway is closed between the A527 (Tunstall / Kidsgrove turn off) to A5271 Porthill Road (Porthill Bank).
The exit slip road at Porthill Bank is reported to be shut. A diversion is in place.
Several readers report emergency services, including the air ambulance, are at the scene.
A Highways England spokesman said: “A500 in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, is currently closed southbound between the junctions of the A527 and the A5271 due to a serious collision. Staffordshire Police are on scene and are conducting collision investigations.
“Diversions are in place and are signed by the hollow triangle diversion symbol. The route guidance is as follows:
“Travel north on the A527 via Sandyford to the A50. Take the 4th exit and travel south on the A50. Turn right onto the A5271 via Middleport to re-join the A500 at Porthill.”
A motorbike is among the vehicles involved.
