Very slow traffic after accident on A50 involving two lorries


There is very slow traffic on the A50 this afternoon following a collision at a busy roundabout.

The accident was first reported at around 2.35pm on the A50 Eastbound from A522 (Uttoxeter/Upper Tean) to B5050 Ashbourne Road (McDonald’s roundabout).

Inrix, the traffic data company, report slow traffic queueing in the area.

Staffordshire Police and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service are at the scene.

And eyewitnesses report that an air ambulance is also in attendance.

The accident is understood to involve two lorries.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “We’ve got a two lorry RTC at the McDonald’s roundabout.

“We’re in attendance along with the Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service due to a diesel spillage and we are awaiting recovery of one of the HGVs.”
