Walsall 2, Port Vale 2 RECAP – Report and reaction from dramatic game

Port Vale twice took the lead at Walsall before having to settle for a 2-2 draw this afternoon.

The Vale have dropped outside the play-off spots, in eighth, after their three-game winning run came to an end in a hard fought game.

Vale took the lead through Leon Legge on 12 minutes but were pegged back on 15 through Elijah Adebayo who scored from the rebound after Scott Brown could only block a shot.

Scott Burgess restored Vale’s lead on 36 minutes with a deflected long-range effort, but Walsall had the better of the game after the break, levelled through Josh Gordon on 58 minutes, and forced a stunning save from Brown to keep out Adebayo.

Vale came back in the final stages and almost won it when Dave Worrall’s volley was saved.
