This was the moment a pervert was confronted by paedophile hunters outside a Stoke-on-Trent McDonald’s.
The shocking footage was captured by Confronted & Caught before being passed on to police to ensure Phillip Hobson was again behind bars for his sickening crimes.
It shows the 57-year-old – who has previous for abuse crimes – being challenged by the exposers who quiz him about his online sex chats with an ’11-year-old girl’ called Milly.
Hobson, of Ephraim Street, Hanley, had believed he was communicating with a schoolgirl when he asked for naked photos and suggested meeting up in Blackpool for sex.
In fact, the ‘girl’ was a decoy named Shay who arranged for ‘Milly’ to meet Hobson at McDonald’s in Longton – where he was arrested.
The 22-minute film – which was live-streamed on Facebook – starts with the hunters arriving at the scene in the pouring rain before spotting Hobson as he climbs out of his car.
The defendant then tries to make a hasty exit as he mutters ‘no, no, no’ before he is stopped from leaving and told ‘not to make a fuss’.
A camera is then shined in his face as a man explains why he is going to be arrested for the online grooming of children.
Hobson is repeatedly told to clam down and to keep still as is told his rights.
He repeatedly denies being involved in child abuse, saying: “I don’t know what you’re on about. I’m not pretending, I don’t know anyone in Blackpool.”
However, the jobless pervert finally admits that he is a re-offender, saying: “I was caught last year I think.”
When asked why he commits his crimes he simply shakes his head and says: “I don’t know. Nobody’s given me help. I’ve asked for help but nobody’s given it to me.”
A crowd then gathers as a woman hunter tells him: “You’re vile, you’re a predator, you’re a paedophile, you’re a nonce. You’re a danger to children.
“People like you Phillip don’t just talk to one child. How dare you target children, innocent children. What’s even worse is that you don’t have any backbone to explain yourself or take on board any ownership.”
As Hobson repeatedly blows his nose and fights back tears, a man adds: “I’ve got all your texts on my phone. I’ve got all the evidence.
“I’ve been reading your texts that you’ve been sending to the decoys for the last two weeks. I’ve read every single message that you’ve sent. You’re a big liar and a prolific paedophile, a third time reoffender.
“You obviously haven’t learned your lesson. You are disgusting and you are danger to society.
“You are the lowest piece of s**t that I’ve ever met to be honest. You think you’re clever, but you’re not. I hope that this time time they lock you up for a bit longer.
“You’re just lucky that the system is so pathetic that you get pathetic sentences. All you are is a weak imbecile.”
The footage ends as Hobson is told that the police have arrived before the hunters leave the scene on February 29.
Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard Hobson met ‘Milly’ on social networking site Hi5 before moving on to WatsApp.
Her profile said she was 18, but ‘she’ soon revealed she was only 11.
He went on to plead guilty to attempting to engage in sexual activity with a child, attempting to meet a child after grooming and breaching a sexual harm prevention order.
The court heard Hobson was jailed in 2016 and 2018 for offences of attempting to meet a child following grooming.
Judge David Fletcher sentenced Hobson to two years in prison and also imposed a new Sexual Harm Prevention Order which restricts his use of the internet.
Following the sentencing, a member of the paedophile hunter group told StokeonTrentLive: “Phillip Hobson was in communication with a child decoy of 11 years.
“As an adult what he had planned that night was beyond sick, the role play he wanted to carry out was horrific so a child would stand a chance.
“He wanted the 11-year-old child to sneak out through the night whilst her parents were asleep so he could f**k her in his van.”
