PORT VALE

Brown: A clean sheet, a smart first half save to keep out Bowman, and incredible one to deny  Seymour   8.5

Mills: Played his part again in a solid back four. James Gibbons is nearing fitness but will have a battle for his place 7

Legge: The captain has started the season in outstanding form. Inspirational 8

Smith: Another confident performance from a centre half who can play higher than League Two – and will hopefully get that chance with Vale 8

Fitzpatrick:  Great positioning snuffed out danger a couple of times. Handled the dangerman Williams well when the winger came off the bench 7

Joyce: Calm, composed, didn’t give the ball away and kept the Vale moving 7

Oyeleke: Great so see him back in the side and he certainly justified his performance. Won the ball and used it well. 7

Conlon: Brilliant goal for Vale’s first and a superb through ball to set up Rodney for the second. What a performance  9

Worrall: Quality delivery and more than matched that with his work rate. The 2019/20 player of the year  isn’t letting his standards drop 7

Cullen: Didn’t get much of a sight of  goal but did his job for the team with a hard working performance. 7

Rodney: Continues to impress. Played well on the left then, when moved to the middle late on, ran on to Conlon’s through ball to beat the keeper with an accomplished finish 8

SUBS:

WHITEHEAD (Oyeleke, 63). Helped ensure Vale finished the game strongly 7

MONTANO (Cullen, 70):  Did an important job on the left wing as Rodney was moved across to the centre 7

ROBINSON (Rodney, 86): Not on long enough for a mark  but his presence on the bench shows the strength in depth the Vale now have.

Not used: Visser, Crookes, Burgess, McKirdy.

Exeter: Ward, Key (Seymour, 75), McArdle, Dean, Page, Taylor, Atangana (Williams, 57), Collins, Randall, Jay (Law, 74), Bowman.

Subs: Sparkes, Parkes, Fisher, Maxted.
