The widow of a man who died following an assault has issued a tribute to her husband to help bring his killers to justice.
Stan Bacioiu, aged 44, from Burton-on-Trent, died in hospital six months ago today (May 22), on December 1, more than a week after he was assaulted on Uxbridge Street on November 22.
A disorder involving around 14 people started inside an address before spilling out onto the street where Stan was injured at around 9.30pm.
West Midlands Ambulance Service attended the scene and Stan, who was originally from Romania, was taken to Nottingham Queen’s Hospital in a critical condition where he sadly died.
His widow, Madalina, has now issued a tribute and a new picture of her husband in a bid to help bring those responsible to justice.
Two 22-year-old men, both from Burton-on-Trent, were arrested on suspicion of assault grievous bodily harm with intent and released under investigation pending further enquiries.
Madalina said: “Stan’s passing has left a huge void in my heart that nothing and no one will ever be able to fill.”
Detective Inspector Zoe Kelsall, from the force’s Major and Organised Crime Department, said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who may have any information, no matter how big or small, that may be able to assist us with our investigation.
“We are as determined today as we were on the day that this incident took place to find those responsible. Someone knows who did this to Stan and we are renewing our appeal for information.
“We want to get justice for Stan and all of his family that have been left devastated following his death almost six months ago.
