Woman in ‘critical condition’ after falling from Town Road bridge



The woman who fell from Town Road bridge is in a critical condition in hospital.

Emergency services rushed to the scene in Potteries Way, Hanley, below the bridge at around 11.15am yesterday morning.

Members of the public had stopped to help the woman before paramedics arrived and began treating her at the roadside.

The woman, believed to be in her 50s, was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital where she underwent surgery on Saturday evening.

A Staffordshire Police spokeswoman confirmed the woman remained in a critical condition at the hospital and may have to return to the surgery theatre this morning.
