A woman is fighting for her life in hospital and a man received serious injuries after a non-stop crash on a busy Stoke-on-Trent road.
Officers confirmed a man and a woman have both been arrested in connection with the incident.
A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “Police were called at 7.45pm on Friday (21 February) to reports of a non-stop collision on Leek Road between a Ford KA and an Audi S3.
“A woman in her 30s suffered serious and possibly life-changing injuries and a man suffered serious injuries to his hand. The woman remains in hospital in a critical condition.
“A 25-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of serious road traffic collision. He has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
“A 54-year-old woman, from Stoke-on-Trent, was arrested on suspicion of attempting to pervert the course of justice. She was also released under investigation pending further enquiries.”
West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed two ambulances, a paramedic officer, and BASICS doctor attended the scene.
A spokesman said: “We treated one patient, a man in his 30s, for potentially serious injuries who was taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital. A second patient, a woman, was taken to hospital on blue lights with serious injuries.
