Woman still fighting for her life after fall from Stoke-on-Trent bridge

The woman who fell from a Stoke-on-Trent bridge is still fighting for her life in hospital two days after the incident.

Emergency services were dispatched to Potteries Way in Hanley at around 11.15am after members of the public saw her fall from the Town Road bridge.

The woman, believed to be in her 50s, was given treatment at the roadside before being transported to the major trauma centre at the Royal Stoke University Hospital.

She has undergone surgery during her time in hospital so far and Staffordshire Police confirm her condition remains critical.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman added an emergency doctor had travelled with her to hospital following the fall.

He said: “We were called to Potteries Way in Hanley at 11.13am following reports a woman had fallen from a bridge.

“One ambulance, a paramedic officer and two BASICS doctors were sent to the scene.

“On arrival they treated one patient, a middle-aged woman, for critical injuries at the scene before she was taken on blue lights to the major trauma centre at the Royal Stoke.

“One of the doctors also travelled with her and the crew to the hospital.”
